Churches

Finding the right church

Here are some tips to help you find the church that is right for you in Birmingham

  1. Pray! Ask God to help you find a great church
  2. Ask your church leaders or other members of your church at home if they know of any churches in Birmingham
  3. Visit different churches in your first few weeks at uni. It’s unlikely you’ll find the right church first time. However…
  4. Don’t spend ages going round loads of different churches. Pick a church and get stuck in there
  5. When you visit a church, chat to some of the leaders – ask them to tell you more about what their church is like.
  6. Remember that no church is perfect, so don’t be put off if you can’t find one that’s exactly what you want

Birmingham Vineyard Church
Vineyard logo
Our journey began in November 1988 as a small group of people meeting in a home with a vision to build a church that would bring life to Birmingham. That small group grew to become the church that we are today. We continue to be a community who carry that vision and are passionately pursuing God’s heart for our city through our ordinary everyday lives.
We are a church where lives are changing.  A place where people are excited about following Jesus and experiencing life in a new way.  We are a people who are bringing life to our city and communities and a place where we see transformation happen as we pursue the dreams that God has placed in our hearts.

Carrs Lane Church
Carrs lane church logoThe Church at Carrs Lane meets in the very centre of Birmingham. We are a diverse, gathered, open, growing and welcoming Christian community drawn from a wide variety of faith backgrounds.  We believe in the importance of engaging directly with the wider life of the city in all its glorious – and sometimes painful – variety.   We are growing in confidence as we seek to be ‘incarnational’ Christian presence in the city.  Much of what we do has a commitment to justice at its heart; this is a church which deliberately seeks to be inclusive; it is also a church in which honest questions and careful thinking are encouraged.

City Church Birmingham
city-logoWe are Christians of all ages and backgrounds who meet together to glorify God by making the good news of Jesus Christ known in Birmingham. We also want to know God better and to live our lives in ways that glorify him. We are convinced that his word changes lives and we therefore put the Bible at the centre of church life. The Church is not a collection of individuals but a family. As such we enjoy eating food together, days and weekends away, and  encourage everyone to belong to a mid-week homegroup where we can get to know one another in smaller groups.

New Life Baptist Church
brandingimageThe principal purpose of New Life Baptist Church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the principles of the Baptist denomination. At the heart of our purpose as a church is a desire to touch the community for good. Jesus said “come to me all you that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”, and we believe that means all. We live in an increasingly insecure world and we believe that getting back to Godly values is essential for our survival as a community and a nation. We seek to advance education through Christian teaching and carry out other charitable purposes in the United Kingdom and/or other parts of the world.

St Luke’s Gas Street
vqoqosmx
St Luke’s Gas Street was once an industrial site for manufacturing gas. That gas was used to power the street lamps that illuminated the area surrounding this part of the city. The history of this wonderful building has provided us with a compelling narrative to be a church that generates light for the city of Birmingham. In Matthew 5:14 (MSG), Jesus says “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in our world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.” The source of the ‘light’, that we pray will pour out of this building, is the love and power of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to not only create a space where people from all walks of life can experience that love and power, but also to create a community of believers who carry that light into their every day lives.
Address: 41 Gas Street, Birmingham, B1 2JT
Sunday Services: 10:30am, 4:00pm, 6:30pm
